Sótão House: The Harmony between Architecture and Nature

In our Studio, the search for harmonious integration between architecture and nature is a constant in all projects. A notable example of this philosophy is Casa Sótão, a project that has stood out as a case of comfort and sustainability due to its design strategies.

Casa Sótão, located in Guaramiranga - Ceará, presents a well-defined sectorization, where each floor exhibits unique characteristics that speak to the surroundings from its levels. 

The ground floor, for example, establishes direct contact with the trunks of the surrounding trees. This floor was designed to make the social area more permeable, providing free spaces for residents to use and an immediate connection with nature.

The upper floor, in turn, is related to the canopy of the surrounding trees. This floor, which houses the private part of the house, benefits from the swaying leaves, offering an environment of tranquility and comfort, ideal for rest. The interaction between architecture and nature at this level is an invitation to contemplation and relaxation.

At the top of the building, the attic offers a stunning view of the horizon, allowing a panoramic view of the vegetation canopy. This space only increases the feeling of integration with the natural surroundings and provides a refuge for residents.

Although functional integration with the surroundings is an intrinsic characteristic of this type of architecture, here we always seek to go further. We employ bioclimatic strategies, regardless of whether the project is located in the city, on the beach or in the countryside. 

These strategies are reflected in the architectural design and choice of materials, which always bring the concepts of vernacular architecture to highlight the natural and regional essence of the project.

Our objective is to reinforce the sustainability and comfort of buildings, because this represents the true essence of architecture for us. It is this dedication and respect for nature that motivates us to create new projects that celebrate and preserve the environment.
